Match to the nearest. This is what decides what goes on the bench first.
A head stack from a matched donor was fitted. The good surface either side of the scored band was imaged, and the photo library was rebuilt using that image instead of pulling it from the disk.
No work was run against the array until every disk had been removed and copied. The set was reconstructed in a software environment from these copies, and the shared folders were made available to the office just as they remembered them.
The card was duplicated before any software touched it. Every frame was carved back to its full size after the directory repair was performed on the duplicate.
The recorder's hard disk was cloned behind a write blocker. The manufacturer's own video format was decoded against the time codes to produce the hour the insurer wanted, and this hour went back as its own file.
Evidence & insurance work
Most jobs finish when the files have been returned. Some do not: an insurance claim, a tribunal, or an employment dispute where one of the parties is no longer employed by that company. For work like that, managing evidence begins with the package: a write blocker is applied to every copy, hash values are verified, an exhibit number is assigned, and each action taken is documented as it happens. If something could not be read, that is documented along with the reason why.
Machines, disks or cards are imaged before examination is conducted. The examination runs on the image, with the method logged as it is being performed. All civil reports comply with CPR Part 35. Solicitors, insurance companies, employers and individuals instruct this type of work, and it starts at £800 + VAT. You also need the appropriate authority to allow us to examine the device.
Clips gone from the menu, or locked inside a recorder that won't turn on. What you're competing with is overwriting; when it comes back round depends on your recorder and its settings, so contact us as soon as possible. Your disk is indexed against its time codes and the window you need is exported. Recorder work costs £400 + VAT.

The engineer then identifies the cause of failure and works out, as honestly as possible, how much data can be recovered from the device. This stage is free of charge, and you owe nothing if you choose to stop there.
Nothing can be charged for until that number is in front of you, with the findings beside it.
Recovered data is sent back to you on new media, posted at our cost. The case stays open until you have inspected every file.
