Client was running server in a 4 disk raid 5 configuration. The Dell Poweredge server keeps stating that the raid server had failed and is producing the error message that 2 out of 4 of the disks have failed. When clients views disks in raid controller bios the raid has gone offline as a result of the 2 disk failure. One of the disks was replaced and a rebuild process started but did no good. The client then replaced 2nd disk and started another rebuild. Both rebuild processes failed.
We arranged a courier to collect server base unit from client as they were not sure how to remove hard drives from server. We diagnosed the 6 disks (2 original and 4 original drives) and the results was 2 disks in the original raid 5 configuration had a mechanical failure and the other 4 disks was working 100%. We imaged the 4 working disks and completed a platter swap on the 2 mechanically damaged disks. Due to 2 rebuilds being run on system we had to recompile and recode the data for the client as the raid data parity was all over the place and very corrupted. We recovered 85% of all data that was on server. This system had been to 2 other data recovery companies before it came to us and they could not recover any data from the system.
