Netgear Data Recovery

NETGEAR READYNAS ULTRA 2

I have been using the Netgear Readynas Ultra 2 as part of a network system for some time. The computers which are connected to this hard drive all save data to the drive, and some of those files and folders are very important. This usually works well for us, but recently I discovered a problem with one of the drives. It would lose connection with the system, and require reboots quite often. This was not a serious issue, but on the last loss of connection, I was not present at the site, and so the drive was down for a while. During that time, Netgear tried to do an update (or something similar), and of course this one drive could not manage it. I rebooted when I returned, but the drive could not complete the update, and I received a message asking me to format the disk. This I did not do, but at the movement I cannot get access to the directory on the drive, and therefore have lost all of the files that were on that drive.

NETGEAR SC101 TURBO

I purchased this device very cheaply, and thought that I had probably got a great deal. I did not intend to do more than put a few folders of photographs and video files on there as backup. I have not been very lucky with electronic equipment recently, and so after I had lost the files on my computer, I attempted to upload them again from the Netgear external hard drive. This is where I discovered that there was a problem. It seems as though only a few days after I had set up a mirroring system on the drive, this fell apart (or failed, in technical terms), and had been saving my documents onto only one half of the mirror. I cannot access those files due to the file system, and cannot find them on the mirrors. The computer would like me to set up those drives again, it keeps asking them to format them, and I am not able to make a clone because the device won’t allow me to copy the mirror in the middle of a process.
