Recover Data From Synology Network Attached Storage
SYNOLOGY DISKSTATION 212J
I am having trouble with a Synology DiskStation. I bought this in order to have a NAS which would work for the whole household and indeed it did work initially but now I am not able to get any kind of meaningful function from the DiskStation. Instead, all I am getting is a message that tells me to switch my router to another port. Repeatedly, this occurs, even after I have put the router into the port, started the router back up, started the DiskStation back up. It seems to be more like a general ‘I have an error’ message, rather than a specific request for installation. I spoke to Synology tech support, and they told me that I need to purchase something called PFConfig, which apparently will correct the router ports automatically. However, this has not worked, and I am going around in circles with support, telling me to use the step-by-step guide, then do it manually, then use the easy connect guide. None of these guides are able to help me with the error message. #I need the data from the system as I have exhausted all other avenues.
SYNOLOGY DISKSTATION NAS
I needed a NAS to replace an old D-Link product, and wanted to have something to backup with Time Machine. The Synology DiskStation seemed like the most recommended when talking to friends and colleagues, so I bought the 212J version. It seemed to have enough on it to do what I needed. However, as soon as I got it home, I discovered that there was a problem. I thought that I would mirror the drives through a RAID1 system. In addition, the drive is not connecting to my router, and I have been told that the DiskStation won’t backup over a WiFi when using Time Machine. I was happily backing up my data for a couple of weeks, and then found, when I was trying to open the files, that the data is now corrupt. I tried to solve this by speaking to tech support, but that was when I was told that there was no backing up with WiFi only have a couple of laptops, and so cannot connect these to the Synology system, which is located near the router in another room.
