Recover Data From Compaq Desktop PCs
COMPAQ PRESARIO CQ2723:
I have a Compaq Presario CQ2723 which is not working very well. In order to get it to boot up at all, I have to completely overheat it. What I mean is that I have had to remove the fan from the system, and now let it ‘warm up’ by holding my hand on the power button for about 5 minutes. The system was starting up using this method for months now but that is not the case now. When I switch on the PC it is completely dead, no lights or anything else comes on.
COMPAQ PRESARIO:
I am using a Compaq Presario desktop which is not working for me. I have tried to do several checks, such as removing all of the external hardware which is not essential. I have rebooted several times, and all that happens is that the screen is completely black. I have tried to do a BIOS reset, removing the COSMOS battery for at least 5 minutes, and keeping my finger pressed down onto the power button. I also have done a system reset, by removing the main battery in the device and taking off the power lead, and keeping my finger on the button again. But what happens is that it will power up, the Caps lock light flashes on the keyboard, and then there is nothing. After a few seconds, it will start up again, get to the same point, stop again. I cannot get BIOS, and there is also no fan noise, and I cannot hear the hard drive going around. I think this means that there is something seriously wrong with the hard drive.
